Building Self-Confidence Through Authentic Strength Discovery

Senior Personal Development Coach & Content Director at Ascend HK Limited

Who Emily Is

Emily’s been coaching Hong Kong professionals for over a decade. She’s worked with more than 2,000 people across corporate teams, startups, and educational institutions — helping them move past self-doubt and actually build real confidence from the inside out.

Her journey started at the University of Hong Kong during her psychology degree. She noticed something troubling: incredibly smart, accomplished students were drowning in self-doubt. That observation shifted everything for her. Instead of staying in academic research, she pivoted into practical coaching work. After completing her advanced strengths-based coaching certification through the International Coach Federation in 2014, she launched her own practice in Central, initially working with multinational corporate teams.

What drives her work isn’t theory — it’s the daily reality of working with real people. She’s seen the patterns. High achievers trapped in perfectionism. Smart professionals who don’t recognize their own strengths. Young adults comparing themselves endlessly to others. The pressures in Hong Kong are specific: the career intensity, the cultural expectations, the pressure to appear effortlessly successful. She’s designed her entire approach around these realities.

At Ascend HK Limited, she now leads content creation and coaching framework development. Her work combines journaling techniques, strengths discovery exercises, and practical milestone-setting — all tailored to how Hong Kong professionals actually live and work. She believes genuine confidence comes from understanding what you’re actually good at, not from external validation or comparison to others.

Her Focus Areas

What Emily Coaches On

Four core areas that shape how she works with clients and the content she creates

Strengths Discovery

Moving past generic personality tests. Emily helps people identify what they’re actually good at — the skills that come naturally, the work that energizes them. This becomes the foundation for everything else.

Journaling for Growth

She’s created proprietary journaling frameworks that actually work. Not vague prompts — structured exercises that help you process challenges, track patterns, and build clarity about who you’re becoming.

Personal Milestones

Goal-setting that sticks. Emily helps clients set milestones that are actually meaningful — connected to values, realistic in timing, and broken into manageable steps you can track.

Positive Self-Perception

Building genuine confidence — not arrogance, not toxic positivity. Real self-perception that’s grounded in honest self-assessment and aligned with your actual strengths and values.

How Emily Works

Her methodology combines research with real-world experience

1

Honest Assessment

She starts by listening. No assumptions, no templates. Understanding where you actually are right now — what’s working, what’s creating friction, what you’re telling yourself about your abilities.

2

Strengths Mapping

Together you identify your actual strengths through structured exercises and reflection. Not what you think you should be good at. What you’re genuinely strong in, based on evidence from your own experience.

3

Intentional Journaling

She introduces journaling techniques designed to build self-awareness. These aren’t vague diary entries — they’re structured practices that help you process challenges and recognize patterns in how you operate.

4

Milestone Development

You define personal milestones that actually matter to you — connected to your values and strengths. Then break them into real, achievable steps you can track and adjust as you progress.

5

Confidence Building

As you progress, your self-perception shifts. You’re seeing evidence of your capabilities. You understand your strengths. Your milestones are moving forward. That’s where real confidence comes from.

“Genuine self-confidence doesn’t come from external validation or comparison to others. It comes from understanding your authentic strengths and aligning your personal goals with your core values. That’s what we’re building together.”
